Targeted Industries
A Target Industry Study was conducted for Athens-Clarke County in 2011 by Janus Economics LLC. Janus screened more than 1100 manufacturing and service industries using several criteria of "fit" in Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, and the Southeastern US. Industries were screened on presence of existing related industries, workforce talent concentrations, growth trajectories, qualitative assessment, and comparative advantage. The resulting target industries are in biomedical, several equipment manufacturing clusters, consulting, fire/insurance/real estate, and information/communications.
